Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum was the first planetarium
built in the
Western Hemisphere.  It is located in downtown Chicago, Illinois.  The education
department is in the process of expanding their distance learning programs.  They do have
an “Astronomy Connection” videoconference program that involves “Intense training in web-
based technology and the use of interactive videoconferencing equipment.”

Alaska SeaLife Center
Students can expand their knowledge through live, multi-media presentations including meeting animal
“guests”, exploring our exhibits, talking with researchers and animal caretakers, and completing hands-on
activities. Using Inquiry-based learning each conference will also utilize research and rehabilitation programs
happening right now at the SeaLife Center. Teachers are provided with complete support guides including
information on setting up the space for your program, pre-conference and post-conference activity ideas,

Albany Institute of History and Art is located in Albany, New York.

"Mummies and Ancient Egypt" students view mummies and learn about the cultures in which

Badlands National Park
contains over 240,000 acres of sharply eroded
buttes.  Rangers can use a special spotting scope to give your students a view of this
unique landscape. Enrichment sessions can focus on fossils and sedimentary rock formations,
extinct ancient animals, and even one of today’s endangered species.  Grades 3-5 travel back
30 million years to the Golden Age of Mammals.  Grades 6-8 will discover how this “layer cake”
of sedimentary rocks was formed.

Buffalo Zoo in Buffalo, New York, started back in the late 1800's when a furrier
presented a pair of deer to the City of Buffalo!  Today the zoo flourishes with a robust

California Department of Parks and Recreation PORTS program is a

collaborative effort between public schools and California State Parks. By using the Digital
California Project, PORTS is able to deliver live presentations to classrooms from parks

Cape May County Park and Zoo is one of the best attractions of Cape May Court
House, New Jersey.  The zoo offers many programs over videoconferencing including
"Overview of the Animal Kingdom," in which a collection of animals are used such as the
ferret, white tree frog, corn snake and cockroach.  Using the barn owl as a videoconference
focus during a class dissection of owl pellets makes science come alive!

national park dedicated to an African American.  The park preserves the birthplace

Little Rock Central High School Historic Site;
the school became a crucial battleground in the struggle for civil rights on September 23, 1957. 
The nation sat transfixed as nine African-American students entered the previously all-white

Presque Isle State Park, a sandy peninsula that reaches into Lake Erie is located in
Erie, Pennsylvania.  Presque Isle is a National Natural Landmark with diverse plants and
